As a designer, I am frequently telling my clients to think big, especially when working with a small space. If you are looking to redecorate a small room, fill the space with larger furniture pieces that appear large, but are appropriately scaled. Watch for arm width and depth of the pieces…these can eat up space. An edited selection of a few key pieces allows you to incorporate a few larger-scale items that will fill out the room and create a cozy, comfortable environment.

Bigger is better- when it comes to choosing artwork that is. In lieu of using wallpaper to finish a wall, hang up a large, visually-appealing piece of artwork.  This adds a colorful texture to the room. And you could change the art, perhaps seasonally or to rotate through a collection. When placed strategically, a large piece of art can create a focal point for a room.
