It’s the time of the year, as designers, that we all wait for in anticipation: color of the year reveals! Benjamin Moore has just released their 2016 color of the year, Simply White. The team chose it for it’s versatility to work with warm or cool pallets and remaining constant under different light sources. This year, it’s back to basics!

Your first reaction may be “but white isn’t even a color!” White is a backdrop color that provides a space for other colors to shine and can even shine itself. When using a white paint as the primary color of the room, it allows accents, not necessarily colors, to shape a space.

It can work in a modern, simplistic space or a lively traditional home. Perhaps its best feature is that it can be used as a blank slate for an array of accent colors. Here are a few of the top picks:
