Stylish Decorating Tips for Halloween

Decorating your home for Halloween can be a tricky balance. While you want to embrace the spirit(s) of the day, you don’t want your home to look like a cheap Halloween store! There are plenty of ways that you can take your spooky decorating up a notch and turn your abode into the Addams Family home!  Take a peek at some of our favorite bewitching ways to spruce up your home for Halloween this year.

Spook Up Your Space

Start at the door.

Think about the presentation of your home and the first thing your guests will see when they come to your front door. You can “trick” them with spider webs and even a noise-activated spider that drops down from the ceiling.  Or you can “treat” them with an entryway that features a spooky doormat and lanterns to light up your porch.

Go all out with table decor.

You can turn your dining table, coffee table and side tables into Halloween vignettes.  Start with a black tablecloth, and shred the edges if you dare.  Of course, you’ll need lots of candles, preferably with some in vintage candelabra, as well as votive candles throughout the space.  Fill a few vases with dead branches and attach bats or ravens to them.  Scatter gourds, little spiders, and ghostly beings throughout.  And think of your pumpkins as more than jack-o-lanterns!  Paint a few black, fill them with spiky succulents and set them on Spanish Moss for a fall-themed centerpiece that adds an extra touch of spookiness.

Create a sweet tooth spectacle.

Halloween isn’t Halloween without candy, so why not create a cute and chic display out of it? If you have a bar cart, use it to display glass jars and cake stands filled with sweets and treats. Add in some extra spook with small fake spiders and tiny skulls.

Opt for fall hues.

Halloween isn’t strictly about orange and black. Try out different fall themed hues like deep purples and greens around your home to create a more stylish ambiance.  Throw in a few delicately-stretched faux spider webs, and the only thing you’ll have to fear is fear itself.
