Time to embrace the season!

As much as I love decorating for the season, I will forego giving advice as the web is chock-full of ideas and inspirational photos to motivate you décor devotees, no matter what your style. Instead, I have a few ideas to share about embracing the season of frosted windows & time spent indoors.

First, do you still need a gift or two? Give the Gift of Design to a family member or your closest friend by buying a two-hour design consultation. Your gift can last years and years!

Now, staying healthy & happy in the colder months is all about having the right gear, and that goes for the inside of your home too, not just your outerwear. One way to “gear up” for the season is to create a cozy nook somewhere in your home, whether it be a whole room, a child’s nook, or a spot for “me” time that anyone in your household can enjoy.

It doesn’t take much to do this, and the thought of stealing some time to enjoy this new space is a warm one, indeed!  This can be a corner of a guest room or a portion of the living room—both of which might not get used much unless company comes over! Here is what I do to transform an under-utilized area into one of instant, cozy comfort:
  • Add ambient lighting in the form of a table or floor lamp. A 3-way or dimmer switch allows you to use the spot for reading or dozing off…
  • Throw blankets or cozy, furry pillows are a must. If your new nook is in the guest room, bring out the handmade throw gifted to you by a friend or family member when they come to visit!
  • Lastly, if you are working with an under-utilized space, consider a built in with upholstered cushions. This could be a larger project, but there is great benefit to making use of an overlooked area. If you need an assist, you can always call on Bon Brise Design.
