Aaahhh summer… it’s just around the corner, so let’s think about how we can update our patios! When in Florida, we practically live on our patio. But as I write, I am in Chicago, where it is snowing, so I can only dream of the summer evenings on our balcony! Nonetheless, dreaming I am.
There are lots of quick ways to update an outdoor space. Think about adding pizzazz to your existing furnishings with bright throw pillows and ceramic pots in coordinating colors. Or add interest to what you already have by adding flowering plants in an updated planter, and then add some fun lighting and a self-circulating water feature to enliven the senses.
Of course, another way to update our outdoor spaces is to get new furniture. Now, if we’re talking about a balcony’s worth of furniture, that may not be hard to do. But if we’re talking about a large patio with multiple seating areas, it could be more challenging to replace everything at once.
Good thing that the current trend in outdoor furnishings is more of a coordinating look rather than an everything-the-same look. Instead of having all the same furniture across the patio, think about getting coordinating styles to add interest and texture to the space.
For example, if you have an aluminum table and sling chairs, your conversation area can be a contemporary look like this woven-back collection I saw at Elizabeth + Grace Outdoor.
Or perhaps you have a wrought iron table and chairs. You could use composite furniture, like this updated look from Telescope Casual, in your seating area. Materials are so much more durable these days, and you really can leave cushions outside all the time.
