At Bon Brise Design, we work with homeowners at every budget for their bathroom remodels. From start to finish, we take care of the details for you! Here are a few elements we keep in mind when designing luxurious bathrooms:
1. Install statement lighting.
Statement lighting doesn’t have to be a grand chandelier in a large bathroom. Wall-mounted sconces or even a pair of pendants can give your bathroom that spa-like feeling of luxury you’re looking for. A popular look is to match the finish of your lighting to the rest of the finishes in your space, such as staying in an all-gold or all-silver scheme. But you can mix your metals, too, for a more eclectic approach. A dimmer switch can also add a soothing touch to a bathroom. What’s better than taking a soak with subdued lighting?
2. Choose a glam mirror.
Plain bathroom mirrors can sometimes leave the space feeling dull and unfinished. Instead, look for an alternative with a detailed frame or shape. Even the finish of a simple frame can
make a bathroom glow. For an even more cohesive look, pair your new mirror with matching sconces.
3. Use unique finishes.
A striking wall covering or a deep paint color can add an instant high-end look to a bathroom. Consider painting walls, or even the ceiling, with dramatic colors like charcoal and navy
to contrast with the stark white bathrooms fixtures. These colors work especially well when a bathroom has abundant natural light. In bathrooms with little natural light, consider adding
intrigue to the walls with lighter or shimmering wall coverings instead. We love Maya Romanoff’s unique finishes for wall coverings.
4. Upgrade hardware.
For a glam look, seek out finishes and styles that are more polished. Chrome and brushed brass are sleek options that can fit many styles of decor. To create a more cohesive look, try
to coordinate the hardware with another element in the bathroom. For example, if you purchase brushed-bronze cabinet-door handles, look for a brushed-bronze framed mirror as well.
5. Show off art.
Bathrooms often go without a single piece of art, but the right artwork can elevate the feel of a bathroom. Remember that moisture and sunlight can damage some pieces, so you should consult a local art dealer before purchasing a piece for your bathroom. Look for more durable pieces and leave more valuable pieces out of the bathroom.
6. Keep it clean.
A clean bathroom will always feel more upscale, and the key to keeping a bathroom tidy is to have plenty of organization. Every item in your bathroom should have a designated
space. Try to keep counters clear and deep-clean your tub, shower, and flooring regularly to keep the space always looking new.
