The living room is a communal space where friends and family gather to hang out, relax or host events. There’s no doubt that a space as commonly used as the living room needs to look its best and welcome guests into your home. There are many ways to add interest to this area of your home, but adding an accent color is one of the simplest! You can implement almost any color into your space if you go about it in the right way.

Accent colors add life to any space. Throw pillows, furniture or color on one wall are ways to invite an accent color into your living room. With a neutral colored sofa, throw pillows with a bright color give it an appealing design feature. Yet accent colors don’t have to be reserved only to décor, they can be the focal point of the room. For example, a love seat that is a statement color like red or blue will give the space a colorful focal point. Even just painting an accent wall will add much more visual interest to the living room.

When it comes to using décor to bring in accent colors, remember to not go overboard. Some flowers, vases or area rugs can do the trick, but not every single piece of décor needs to be an accent color. Don’t forget, a little goes a long way! And keep in mind that there can be more than one accent color in a space if the colors flow nicely together. Having more than one color can give the room a new vibe or tone. This also adds more of a visual element.

Inviting accent colors into your living room can help welcome guests into the space as well. Nothing is more appealing than a room that is decorated well.
