Home offices are rising on my list of design requests from clients! As mentioned in a recent blog, we mentioned that keeping paper clutter at bay is an important part of every office, but there’s even more to making a great home office. Here are a few things we love to include in every home office to make it the perfect work space:
Soft lighting – It’s safe to assume that your home office has a computer. Staring at a bright screen isn’t always so easy on the eyes, so soft lighting can make the room more inviting. Try a simple table lamp or installing a dimmer on the room’s ceiling light.
Reading nook – An office doesn’t only have to be for working! Create a cozy reading nook with a comfortable chair and throw blanket to curl up with a good book after the day’s work is done.
Functional storage – Stylish filing cabinets are a must, but functional storage comes in other forms as well. Try a bookcase or installing a wall of built-ins for custom needs.
Art you love – Your home office is your space, so make it your own with colors and art you love. Head out to local antique shops and art shows to find paintings, photographs or a sculpture that speaks to you.
