The most romantic day of the year is almost upon us! Many of us prefer to avoid the crowds at busy restaurants and other date spots, but there’s no reason not to create a romantic, cozy night in. If you’re staying in this Valentine’s Day, here are a few things you can do around your home to create a space that reminds you of your favorite fine-dining restaurant.
First things first, clear the clutter! There’s nothing romantic about piles of papers or a dirty floor. Do quick spot cleaning throughout the week before. Have it completed the day before date night to be able to fully relax during your evening in.
Candles are great, but try to avoid scented candles at the dinner table. They can take away from the delicious smell of your home cooked meal! Instead, take note of colors, styles or brands of candles your significant other is fond of.
Take the time to set the table. Between the rush of the week and eating in front of the TV, it’s a nice touch to set the table before your dinner. Whether it’s for take out or a home-cooked meal, it’s a detail that shouldn’t be overlooked. Put away the paper plates and pull out the china.
Display photos of you and your loved one. So often, we forget the power of photos. Have prints made of your favorite photos for around your home. They can serve as a daily reminder of your happiest memories, and are a wonderful decor element.
