We all love our pets – but sometimes they make our homes a mess! Between the fur and toys strewn across the living room floor, keeping a home tidy with pets can be a struggle. We have a few tips to keep your home welcoming to guests as well as your pets:

  • Match pet “furniture” to your color scheme, wood stain and size of your space. This is especially important for maintaining a well-designed home. Take the time and money to invest in high-quality pet furniture. Not only will it look great, it will be more comfortable for the four-legged family members.
  • Keep up with fur and dander. An air purifier is so helpful, especially if you have multiple pets, to cleanse the air and make friends and family with pet allergies more comfortable. And if you have a pet that sheds, invest in a robotic vacuum that you can run every night in the area where pets congregate, to keep loose fur to a minimum.
  • Keep pets properly groomed. This will cut down on pet dander and fur (and that stinky pet smell!).
  • Choose stain-resistant fabrics. Sometimes, dirty paws are inevitable. Make sure chairs and sofas are in tough and sturdy fabric. Consult your designer or local home goods store to find the right material for you.
  • Look into pet-friendly flooring. It’s important that hardwood flooring is properly treated during installment to hold up to guests and pets alike.
