Transitioning from the warmer months into fall gives you the perfect excuse to update your home with fresh accessories and colors inspired by the season. Get your home fall ready with a few of these tips for keeping your home in style all autumn long!
Fall Decorating Tips
Update throw pillows.
As the weather starts to get cooler your family will begin to spend more and more time indoors. Make your living room a cozy escape by adding plush throw pillows in different shapes, sizes and patterns. Accessories that double as comfortable additions are perfect for fall and add visual interest to your living room.
Bring the outdoors in.
Add color and texture by bringing in dried flowers and grasses. Placed in vases of different heights, and mixed with gourds and mini pumpkins, you can create an instant focal point that welcomes the change of season.
Prep the fireplace.
When your fireplace isn’t in use it’s easy for it to become dusty and neglected. To prepare for those cool fall nights you’ll want to contact your contractor to check it out for any gas-related safety hazards, then have it professionally cleaned before you light it back up.
Add a rug or two.
Adding additional area rugs into your space can be a nice way to warm it up. Consider a hall runner for fall and winter. Or, layer an area rug over your carpeting to add additional color and texture.
Bring seasonal warmth to the table.
Put your everyday dishes back in the cupboard and break out those seasonally themed pieces for your dining room. For extra warmth, instead of a traditional tablecloth, layer a vintage quilt over a tablecloth to create a custom look. Then decorate with pumpkins, nuts, and fresh herbs for a table-length centerpiece.
