You have your floor plan finished and the interior designer you hired assisted with color schemes, wallpaper and furniture, but have you thought about what dishes to purchase that will best fit your new renovations and design? Little did you know, everything in your home contributes to the overall design, right down to the plate you serve dinner on and the cup you drink coffee from. Dishes serve a functional purpose, but they can also enhance your home’s décor since they are used throughout the day at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The first thing to consider when looking at dishware is choosing the right material. Do you want porcelain, stoneware or earthenware? Better known as china, porcelain is made from fine clay and quartz. It’s durable and resists chipping. Stoneware is heavier than porcelain and can be put in the microwave and dishwasher. Made from terra cotta clay, earthenware is casual and is available in a variety of vibrant colors. After narrowing down the material you think best fits your home, it’s time to contemplate the design such as the color scheme.
Keep your eyes out for exclusive designs when looking to plan a dinner party or special occasion. A neutral or all-white dinnerware set would be the most versatile, but if you feel like that won’t fit your aesthetic, choose a set that’s ornamented with precious metals. Gold and silver provide an elegant and regal ambience for any occasion.
