We’ve been working on a “Design from Afar” project for a client in Dallas. This has been so much fun! Our client is very fun and collaborative, and her home has great bones to begin with—large, light-filled rooms with tall ceilings and a neutral palette that served as the perfect starting point. We’ve now worked together via Zoom to augment several areas of the home.
First, we selected a new paint color for the walls. Next, in the living room, we re-organized the furniture to create a more open feel. We added functionality by adding a small table and a floor lamp between the two armchairs, and we added two benches to create some versatile seating. We’re also creating dramatic custom drapery to layer over tall windows already fitted with plantation shutters, adding softness to the décor. Finally, we’re adding custom throw pillows to provide punch and tie in a terrific painting above the fireplace.
For the casual dining just off the kitchen, we collaborated to select a new table and chairs upholstered in a fabric to complement the existing valence in the space. In the foyer we selected a new 12-light chandelier to replace the older wrought-iron fixture and transformed a small entry table by painting it a color that tied in the adjacent dining room rug.
We also made some changes in her upstairs TV/game/exercise area by changing the furniture layout and adding a few pieces of furniture to make the space more useable, such as a coffee table that features a built-in, lift-up table.
If you have a vacation home in need of updating or know someone in another city or state who would be thankful to receive the gift of our design time, please give us a call…we can help!
