If you’ve taken a look through our portfolio, one thing you’ll notice is that we love to incorporate floral accents into our designs. Bright, fresh flowers can be a simple and elegant way to polish off a space. The best blooms can also transform a room in another way—their wonderful scents!
To add cheer and color into your space, you need to know the right kind of flowers to choose for a particular room. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
In the Dining Room
In our photos, you will see plenty of hydrangeas. They’re perfect for dining rooms, because they have little if any scent at all. This means their fragrance won’t disrupt the taste of your food. Their round shape makes for a great centerpiece on large or small tables, and you can usually find them at about a medium height. They can be high-maintenance, but their simplicity will add a bright touch to any dining room.
In the Kitchen
The kitchen is another space where flowers should have little scent. You don’t necessarily want the smell of garlic and onions mixing with your roses. Tulips work well in kitchens because they have minimal smell, and they can be used in tall vases, taking up less counter space. Place a full vase in the middle of your kitchen island or in the breakfast nook for a bright accent.
On the Coffee Table
Even if you like a clean and clear coffee table, there’s always room for flowers. In the living room, we recommend a light and classic fragrance. In a traditional or transitional space, peonies are a wonderful option. They almost have a vintage aesthetic, but they still add a fresh pop of color to a coffee table.
On the Desk
On your desk, space is limited. An orchid provides a decorative accent that doesn’t take up too much space but can still offer a lovely scent. Visit your local florist or nursery to find the type of orchid with the right scent for you.
