A small bathroom can be just as much of an oasis as a spacious one if you have the right plan. When renovating condos, we often find ourselves designing challengingly small bathrooms, and over the years we’ve learned many great ways to make even small powder rooms feel relaxing. Here are a few of our favorite tips for taking your small bathroom to new heights!
Pair lively floors with neutral walls.
If you’ve always loved the look of statement flooring, now is your time to try it! Small bathrooms are perfect for a bold floor choice. The cost of installation and tile is lower, and you can leave the rest of the space fairly neutral.
Extend floor tile into the shower.
Continuing the same floor tile into the shower will make the room feel less choppy and more spacious. Instead of interrupting the space with a different color or texture, the room
will have a more cohesive look.
Let light in.
Avoid blocking windows. Natural light is important for cramped spaces. If you have a window in the shower, consider clear glass doors instead of a shower curtain.
Get creative with the vanity.
Built-in vanities are the go-to, and custom vanities can completely transform a space. If you want something a little different, however, vintage tables or custom vanities with open
shelving can add a more airy feel to the space.
Use decorative baskets.
In many small bathrooms, there’s no room for cabinetry. Instead, open shelving paired with decorative baskets is a great way to store toiletries and towels. Decorative baskets also add
additional accent décor that can pull the room together.
Take shelving upward.
Those decorative baskets don’t have to be shoved under the sink! Extending shelving upward creates more room for storage and allows you to be more creative in your solutions. Consider having built-in shelving installed, rather than large clunky cabinets that will make the room feel smaller.
