House keeping—as dull as it may be, it’s gotta get done. So what better time than winter to get to it? You’re certainly not going to want to be buried in a closet or stuck in the basement when the weather warms up. Think about the end result. You’ll be spending more time indoors over the next several weeks, and won’t it be nice to have everything clean and crisp? Here are a few ideas to get you going!
• Clean the hutch or cabinet holding your crystal and good dishes. It’s a great feeling when everything sparkles.
• Wipe down the tops of the cabinets and any open shelving. There’s nothing better than breathing in dust-free air.
• Oil the wood furniture to make it gleam.
• Rent a carpet-cleaning machine and do your rugs and your carpeting or hire a professional firm. You’ll feel like you have new carpeting once all the grime is removed.
• Touch up paint on the walls and woodwork. Things will look so much better when they’re not marred and scuffed.
• Clean and seal the grout in your showers, tub area and kitchen. Even the floors! Keeping that grout nice and clean will take years off the look of your tile.
