There are an estimated 79 million households with animals in the U.S., and many of us consider them to be a big part of the family! It’s no surprise that we often take pets into account when we do design work for our clients. We choose fabrics wisely, not only for durability but also for the ability to minimize the appearance of pet hair or the occasional muddy paw. We think about the effect of claws on flooring, and strategically place rugs where possible. We also figure out the best places for the accouterments that come with our furry family members, such as food and water dishes, beds and toy storage. For example, in past projects we’ve created a special ventilated nook in an en-suite bathroom for a litter box, and installed a separate bin in a kitchen to hold kibble for easy feeding.
At Bon Brise Design, we have four-legged family members ourselves. Rest assured that we get very detailed in our planning to accommodate everyone in our clients’ families!
