Spring is finally here! Here in Chicago, the gloomy sky and chilly winds will soon turn into the crisp, fresh air of spring. Now is when we begin to spend more time on our patios and in neighborhood parks, but we shouldn’t neglect the inside of our homes. Bringing spring into your home is well worth the time and effort, as it’s sure to brighten up your space! This week, we are sharing our favorite, simple ways to bring the freshness and brightness of spring into your home.

Textile Accents
Textiles are a simple and affordable way to update your space with the changing seasons. Spring-inspired designs are widely available each year, and there are always bright new colors or floral patterns that will blend well with your current style. Try pastel accent pillows on the couch, a new floral duvet in the bedroom, or even a pastel-striped rug in the dining room. Seasonal decor is a wonderful way to go bold – so don’t be afraid to try something new!

Pastel Paintings
If you already have a collection of dark pieces of art, or your walls are bare, find a few lighter paintings to bring the essence of spring into your home. Impressionist fields of flowers are a perfect example, but there are many other styles of art that incorporate spring-inspired colors.

Crisp Whites
Both Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams chose a version of white as their Color of the Year, but a crisp white always seems especially right for spring! Look around your home and find accents that can be temporarily replaced white counterparts, such as vases or frames. Sofa slipcovers are also widely available in crisp whites and can completely transform a room (and it will pair well with your new pastel accent pillows)!

Colorful Tableware
Tablescaping can seem intimidating, but in a few quick steps you can have a table that’s a stunning representation of spring! Pick out a colorful table runner, crisp white candles, and colorful or patterned tableware and you’re done! Floral tableware is a great option, but you can also find other intricate designs in spring colors as well.

Floral Arrangements
Of course, we can’t forget classic floral arrangements. Flowers not only bring in the visual representation of spring, but also the sweet scent. For flowers, it’s essential to shop locally. Find a florist who sources local flowers or native potted plants from the area to add a special touch.
