What kind of vibe does your bedroom have? Lively? Relaxed? A bedroom is a place for beauty sleep and peace, but creating a peaceful room can be a challenge. Here are the top 7 things we consider when designing a peaceful bedroom:

1. Choose accents carefully
Rather than filling every surface with an accent, stick with the necessities and items that have sentimental value. This makes the bedroom feel lighter and less cluttered.

2. Give your nightstand special treatment
Keep your nightstand dust and clutter free. It’s the last thing you see before you go to sleep and the first thing you see when you wake up. Using a nightstand with a drawer allows you to stow away your phone to avoid its light from waking you.

3. Use light, neutral colors
Bright, neon colors have no place in the bedroom as the main focus of a design. Consider light, warm tones that are soothing and keep brighter tones as accents.

4. Aim for cozy bedding
This is not the time to skimp on thread counts! For a cozy bed, consider the softness and textures of bedding, as well as the pattern and color. Add a few throw pillows to add a plushy feel.

5. Give tech the boot
Leave the television in the living room, put that phone away and turn off your laptop. Leave tech in its proper place before heading to bed to get a full, uninterrupted nights rest.

Using these simple tips, you can take your bedroom from cluttered and busy to relaxing and welcoming. What’s important to you when designing a peaceful resting spot? Let us know on Twitter!
