As entertaining season comes into full swing, it’s time to freshen up the guest room. Many guest rooms are oversized storage closets or former children’s rooms, but there are a few things every guest space needs to be a welcoming space for friends and family:
Space of their own to unpack – Especially for longer stays, make sure that there are empty drawers and closet space available for guests. No one enjoys living out of a suitcase.
Fresh towels and linens – If no one has stayed in the guest room since the previous year, it’s a good idea to wash sheets and towels even if they’re clean to freshen them up.
Inviting scents – Another must for long uninhabited rooms is to rid the space of that stale, empty smell. Light a candle in the room for a few hours before guests arrive, especially if you know you have a scent your guest loves!
Treats and drinks – A snack and bedside water and glasses as a welcoming gift to your guest will make them feel instantly welcome. Even for well-acquainted friends and family, this small gesture is always appreciated.
